Canadian rocker Sass Jordan hit the stage with a classy encore performance at John Street Pub last Friday night and delivered a solid set of her classic rock style and sound. Focused, determined and in her strong voice, Jordan electrified the crowd in this up close and personal show.

The night launched on a high note as the crowd was treated to  two very talented and entertaining two local artists with Julie Corrigan and Jamie Anne Bentz . Julie showcased her soulful country songs while Jamie Anne leaned more towards pop country. Both artists sang original songs of their hometowns and childhood memories and had the audiences full attention as they sang and danced to each song.  These two were no strangers to the local pub.and this reviewer is confident you will see more of them in the future.

As the night went on clearly the crowd was pumped and ready for Canada’s queen of rock Sass Jordan. Unlike her last show, where she lead the audience on a musical journey through time with songs and stories from her re-visited hit album Racine | Apple Music, Jordan hit the small intimate stage with a full rock band and her powerful vocals and large stage presence.

The classics came hard and fast with songs like “Who do you think you are”, “Make you a believer” and “Stop draggin my heart around” by Tom Petty who she considers one of her huge musical influences. This larger than life show seemed to be more of a party with close family and friends as everyone sang and drank enjoying music from their past. Jordan took a moment to joke with the crowd saying she “felt famous here” and just gazed out into the crown and took it all in. As long as Jordan has been performing she consistently sounds fresh, amped and always stays true to her classic rock sound never conforming to new sounds and styles as they came and went.On this night her band maintained a rocking groovy rhythm sound with solid bass, heart pounding drums and guitars that delighted the guitarist in the crowd with solos that just drew you in and held you close onto each note to the end. Perfection at its best

Make no mistake, Jordan still has the same energy and talent she did when she first started her career 25 yrs ago. Definitely an influential Canadian rock icon of her time that just keeps on rocking her way through time. Go catch her show whens she’s in your area.
