The Oak Tree Tavern has become THE most talked about and the place to be during CCMA Week.  It has been transformed into The Blue Jay Café for the week as Calgary’s version of Nashville’s legendary Bluebird Café.

A little slice of Nashville right here in Calgary played host to some of Canada’s brightest country music stars, who are in town for the CCMA awards. Those lucky enough to score a ticket for Thursday’s sold out session were treated to an intimate set with Calgary’s own Brandi & Sidoryk & Katie Rox of Nice Horse, White Rock’s Kristin Carter and Edmonton’s Dan Davidson and even a surprise appearance by Chris Buck.

The storytelling, the stripped down versions of the tunes, the laughs, the genuine connection between the artists all contributed to the amazing, laid back vibe in the room.  It was beyond sold out with a few standing spots – out on the deck looking in – were opened up on a first come first serve basis.

If you want to see what Nashville could be like (and maybe even a little better) get yourself down to The Blue Jay Café on Saturday evening (set times at 5:30 and again at 8pm).
