It’s that time of year again—Festival Riverside is back, and this year’s lineup is spectacular! This techno and EDM festival always generates high anticipation, and this year is no exception.
On Friday night, Day One featured a fantastic lineup of local DJs from Ottawa and Gatineau, with the ever-popular Marshmello headlining the night.Known for his collaborations with other top artists, Marshmello is most recognizable for his giant marshmallow helmet. He’s set to deliver an unforgettable show that will leave the audience in awe!

This year, the stage featured an incredible local lineup, including ELYZE, Sassafras, TryOne, and Vito V. Together, these talented artists kept the dance floor pulsating with vibrant energy and fun party vibes throughout the evening. With their unique styles and captivating performances, they created an unforgettable experience for all attendees, ensuring that the spirit of local music thrived.
The festival not only highlights established acts but also nurtures the next generation of performers, making it a truly enriching event for everyone involved.
Marshmello
Now it’s time for the real party to begin! As a fan of Marshmello, I was thrilled to see him perform again, especially since my last experience was at Ottawa Bluesfest 2022. I knew his set was going to be something special.
Marshmello is a joy to watch; his charisma and positive energy are infectious. He’s not just a visual artist—he’s much more than a man in a mask. His dynamic moves and engaging gestures added an extra layer to his performance, hyping up the crowd and creating an electric atmosphere.
He played a mix of fan favorites and notable dubstep bangers, leaving audience members headbanging, jumping, and dancing the night away. While the music itself was fantastic, the overall experience was elevated by stunning visual effects. The show was nothing short of mesmerizing, featuring a breathtaking display of lights, lasers, smoke, and fire—elements you’d typically expect at an EDM festival. The timing of the visuals with the beat drops was executed flawlessly, making the entire performance unforgettable.
This was an incredible way to kick off the festival! A Marshmello show is always a blast, even for those who may not be into EDM music. Festival Riverside excels at creating an atmosphere where everyone feels safe and included.
