Mathcore pioneers The Dillinger Escape Plan performed at Revolution Hall in Portland, Oregon on October 25th. They are in the process of completing their 25th Anniversary reunion tour that celebrates their debut album Calculating Infinity.
The current reunion lineup features vocalist Dimitri Minakakis, Ben Weinman (guitar), James Love (guitar), Liam Wilson (bass), Billy Rymer (drums).
Known for their aggressive down and dirty hardcore, TDEP blends in heavy metal, jazz and experimental time signatures which translates into a sonically intense in-your-face live show. Literally in-your-face as frontman Dimitri Minakakis demonstrated as he leaned menacingly into the audience numerous times to growl machine-gun delivered lyrics. At one point, early in the show, he was so close to a fan’s face that his microphone was pressed against the guy’s cheek. To his credit, the guy appeared to take this as a challenge by not flinching as he locked eyes with Dimitri to see who would back-off first!
The all-ages….or should I say all-rages show featured the antics of several young fans who appeared to be 5 deep into Red Bull mania, thrashing around uncontrollably at the edge of the stage to make their presence known to the band members.
The large crowd appeared to be locked in during the support band Squid Pisser and XCOMM sets by singing along, throwing up devils horns when the mood stuck and occasionally joining in to get the circle pit warmed up.
During TDEP headlining set all hell broke loose as the non-barricaded front off the stage became one with the mosh pit and it was absolute beautiful chaos and carnage! What an annihilating assault to the senses that was! TDEP never disappoints and this tour is one for the books.
SHOW BONUS!! Their classic 1998 split EP with Nora has been released for the first time ever on vinyl as announced on Instagram HERE. The Half-Gray / Half-Pink version is only available in-person as tour merch at their October 2026 live shows. If you miss out on this exclusive release, the Orange & Black Splatter version is being sold online through Ferret Music.
