Singer/songwriter, author, humanitarian and straight out icon of rock music Bif Naked makes a tour stop at John Street Pub in Arnprior Ontario on Friday, June 1 and wowed the crowd with her additive style and sound.

No introduction required when Bif Naked is in the house.  She does her speaking on stage and she’s hard to miss.  As a multi-platinum selling artist, Bif has grown a fan based that spans from all corners of Canada and beyond making her a recognizable figure wherever she goes.

Josephine Leone of Ottawa was first up with the job of preparing the crowd for the nights performances and she did just that.  She delivered a straight forward performance with her rock/grunge sound and style.  There was something vaguely familiar about her vocals and stage presence that brought me back several decades to another then well known female rocker by the name of Joan Jet. A good comparison and compliment I thought. Her voice conveys a sense of grit and roughness but it can go in many directions as she shows us throughout the set. Keep watch for her as I’m confident you’ll see here around here again.

Crossing Jane is a grunge/alternative rock band based in Ottawa and no stronger to the John Street Pub having opened for such acts as Canadian singer/songwriter and guitarist Jeff Martin best known for fronting the rock band The Tea Party and Todd Kerns, another Canadian musician having played with Slash as his bass player.  Playing after Josephine Leone they wasted no time in getting down to business.  Playing the new song Where Did You Go from their upcoming album, they demonstrated the solid songwriting abilities they have been shown us in the past.  I have seen these guys several times now and they have always delivered top-notch performances.

By the time Bif Naked took to the stage the venue was at full capacity with a loud anxious and excited crowd that erupted as soon as they spotted her heading to the stage and once she got there the energy in the room went through the roof. Bif Naked gave the performance of the night with a blistering set of classics in true Bif style proving she still has what it takes to continue pushing her way through to the front of the line.

Bif Naked is the same strong, passionate iconic female she’s always shown to be.  Her distinct passionate vocals allow the audience to effectively feel whatever she’s conveying in the songs making the experience that much more intimate. The set list included Tango Shoes and I Love Myself Today which were no undoubtedly crowd favorites. Among her vast catalog of music my favorite  has always been Twitch which she did not disappoint performing it tonight. It was a solid kick-ass rock and roll show and it was beautiful.  Bif Naked met every expectation I had and by the singing, dancing and screaming of the crowed I’d say theirs too.  Catch her if you can wherever you can. It’s a guaranteed show you won’t forget.
