Ottawa Bluesfest organizers today announced that Mötley Crüe will be headlining the RBC Stage at the upcoming edition of Ottawa Bluesfest, on July 13, 2024. The band has sold over 100 million albums worldwide, garnered seven USA platinum and multi-platinum albums, 22 Top-40 mainstream rock hits, six Top-20 pop singles, three Grammy nominations, five New York Times best-selling books, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and a Netflix hit movie.
The band’s biography “The Dirt: Confessions of the World’s Most Notorious Rock Band” became a New York Times best-seller in 2001 and has sold over 1 million copies worldwide. In 2019 Netflix premiered “The Dirt” biopic, based on the bestselling book. It became a global hit movie scoring a 94% positive audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

As a result of “The Dirt”, Mötley Crüe gained an entirely new generation of young fans who discovered the band through the movie, further solidifying their iconic status and the timelessness of their songwriting. The band is currently wrapping up THE WORLD TOUR across Japan and Australia. The tour saw them play stadiums in Latin America, Europe and North America earlier in the year and followed their massively successful sold out 2022 US stadium tour with Def Leppard. This announcement illustrates that Ottawa Bluesfest executive and artistic director Mark Monahan continues to dig deep into the riches of the rock pantheon: “I booked Tommy Lee at the festival when he was involved in a side-project, several years ago, and always thought it would be great to book Mötley Crüe one day. Well that day has arrived,” says Monahan, “and it gives us great pleasure to have landed one of the greatest rock bands of our times.”
