Yes, that’s right, that’s what I said. AJ McLean and Kevin Richardson took their clothes off on stage and threw their boxers to their die-hard fans. Keep reading to find out how what happened!

Now that I have your attention, I should explain that while their bandmates were changing backstage, AJ and Kevin undressed onstage in large wooden crates joking that the people in the nosebleeds had the best seats in the house at that moment. The BSBArmy went absolutely wild! We caught up with a few diehard fans just before the show. One had flown in from Nashville just to see the show. We’re guessing this wasn’t her first BSB concert and we’re also guessing that her favorite is AJ.

The boy band, who are no longer boys and would prefer to be referred to as a vocal harmony group, put on one hell of a show! It’s no wonder they have sold over 100 million records worldwide securing their position as the most celebrated boy band ever. Since their beginnings in 1993, they rose to become one of the world’s best selling acts period. They are the first group since Led Zeppelin to have their first ten albums reach the top 10 on the Billboard 200. The albums Backstreet Boys and Millennium were both certified diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), making them one of the few bands to have multiple diamond albums. A star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and a Vegas residency were the cherry on top of an already illustrious career. They put all of this on display last night. The show was expertly choreographed and executed and the hits just kept coming as they offered up 36 songs to the sold out crowd. They even came out for an encore in Sens jerseys no less.

Their sound is still spot on. Without all the lights and costumes at the end of the day these men are talented singers and no, they don’t lip-synch even when dancing. They harmonize like a tight knit group of five who have been signing together for a very long time. In fact, Nick Carter was only 12 years old when the band was formed. They’ve been through highs and lows, including two of the members attending rehab, but they sound and act like brothers on stage. Banter flows easily and it’s obvious that they care about and support each other. Their fans eat is all up.

The stage was incredible and each song came with a different light show, and different vibe. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many shipping crates backstage. They came prepared! I should also note that the boys still look great in their mid forties. I’ve got a secret to tell the men who are reading this. Many women prefer men who are a bit more mature, who have a few extra wrinkles around the eyes and more experience under their belts. It was obvious by the screams heard throughout Kanata that the women in the audience still like what they see even though the band has grown up and now have children of their own. They are in great shape and they don’t look that much different than they did in Tiger Beat in the nineties.

They played a whopping 31 songs not to mention an encore in Sens jerseys! Sure some of the tunes were condensed a bit, but it was amazing to hear hit after hit and to realize just how many songs we could all sign along to. The biggest cheers were reserved for the last song of the night before the encore I Want it That Way and of course Everybody (Backstreet’s Back). It felt like the Canadian Tire Centre was bouncing to the rhythm as fans were up and out of their seats singing and dancing along.

The North American DNA tour picks up in la ville de Québec tonight and there is a stop in Montreal before the boys head south of the border. If you can still get a ticket you should, although by all appearances, we’re assuming the rest of their Canadian stops will also be sold out.
