TORONTO, ON – Today, Québec based country artist Matt Lang is excited to announce his sophomore album More is slated for release on June 5th, 2020 via Jayward Artist Group / The Orchard / Sony Music Canada. The SiriusXM 2019 Top of The Country winner released his new single “Getcha” on May 8th. The song brings back a vintage sound that older country music lovers grew up on and younger fans are embracing through artists like Midland and Jon Pardi.

“I worked with the same producer as on my first EP, my good friend Danick Dupelle (Emerson Drive) and also Tebey who was instrumental in writing, vocal producing and helping to craft the album. I think it’s a great follow-up to my first English record, it’s both a bit more country and a bit more pop,” said Lang. “You can hear a more traditional sound to it, I can already see some of these songs playing in honkytonks with people dancing to them.”

Electric guitars along with fiddle and pedal steel; songs about drinking, love and heartache, the album has it all. The lead single ‘Water Down The Whiskey’, which was released in 2019 was the most-added song in any radio format upon release; reached Top 20 at Canadian country radio, and has soared past a million streams – all in short order.

We caught up with Matt Lang last month and talked to him about More, Top of the Country, learning English, what it was like being in Europe when COVID broke out and what he’s doing to pass the time now that all concerts and festivals have been cancelled for the year. Listen to the full interview below:

“We could have pushed back the release, but nothing can keep a musician from playing music and wanting to share it. We might not have a big release party for this one, but when the time comes that we can get back on stage, we will give the fans a hell of a show,” said Lang about releasing the album during the pandemic.  “We’re really excited to share this new music and can’t wait to see everyone again!”

Proudly from Maniwaki, Québec, Lang has long dreamed of having an international career and is on his way to achieving this quickly. His warm and powerful voice, combined with his impressive live show, quickly got him noticed by the Canadian country music community in English Canada, and in February 2019 he was signed to new record label and management company, Jayward Artist Group Inc.

Later in 2019, Lang won the national SiriusXM Top of the Country competition; took home three awards at Québec’s Country Gala, SOCAN’s Country Music Prize and got his first ADISQ nomination for English album of the year. By March 2020 Matt had performed his first shows in Germany and was en route to London, England to play 3 shows before COVID-19 sent Matt and his band back to Canada prematurely. He was also slated to perform in France summer 2020, now 2021. He will return to the UK in March 2021 for his next overseas dates.

The charismatic singer has garnered over 7.5 million combined career streams, performed over 150 live shows all while learning how to speak English.

“After seeing Matt perform during his first trip to Europe, I am convinced of his exceptional talent as a performer and ability to capture fans with his endearing personality and charm.”   Tom Saunders, Promoter, Live Music AEG Presents UK

“Matt has been an impressive contender through each stage of the competition. He received an outpouring of support from Canadians during the voting stage and completely won over the audience and judges with his performance tonight.” – Jeff Leake, about the SiriusXM Country Competition
