Gord Bamford was live at the Pembroke Memorial Centre in Pembroke last night to raise awareness and support for the tremendously important Robbie Dean Family Counselling Centre charity.

What better way to kick off the July 1st long weekend than with Gord Bamford on a hot summer Friday night and a crowd of super-fans and supporters. First let’s get to a bit about the reason we were all there, the charity we’re all here to support. The Robbie Dean Family Counselling Centre is a charity who’s vision is to be a “beacon of hope for families and individuals in distress and crisis on their journey to wellness”. Working with other service providers, programs are implemented to help meet the mental health needs of the residents of Renfrew County. This is a safe & confidential place where families and individuals find someone to listen, understand and not judge. The Robbie Dean Family Counselling Centre are located at 315 Pembroke Street East Pembroke, Ontario and can be reached at 613-629-4Aid(4243).

Headlining this night was the exceedingly talented and distinguished Gord Bamford who, along with his phenomenal band, delivered an unparalleled show to a very appreciative audience. Never straying too far from the focus of the night Gord routinely brought the crowd back to the importance of the night – the Robbie Dean Family Counselling Centre – a charity that is is passionate about.

 

 

The spirit and feeling of country was alive and well here at the Pembroke Memorial Centre as Bamford performed from his catalog of songs including his newest one Dive Bar from his album  Neon Smoke available on iTunes. iTunes Link Here. This was my second time seeing Bamford and I once again I walked away feeling like I was on a musical journey that when it ended I didn’t want to get off. His songwriting and delivery are fresh and exciting and pulls you in to moments sparking inner emotions that create a beautiful experience. Stepping on stage with his familiar cowboy hat he grabbed the mic and it was “game on”. The fans sang and danced to each song. No stranger to his music. Small couples dancing in the crowd quickly turned into groups of people dancing together.  A fantastic moment that brought everyone together like they’d been friends forever. Besides the songs themselves and the world-class vocals of Bamford, I thoroughly enjoyed the guitar solos that complimented each song – the finishing touches.  Lastly, credit needs to be given to bass player Lisa Dodd who performed brilliantly despite having a broken leg and having to sit for the performance.

The night was a success from start to finish. Gord Bamford delivered in the only style he knows – Brilliant. What I’d like for anyone reading this to remember is that charities, like Robbie Dean Family Counselling Centre, need the support of their local communities to be effective and achieve the goals they set out to accomplish.  They play a crucially important role that we all need to get behind and promote awareness and support to them if even in some small minor way.
