I had a chance to speak with Brent Boileau of Fortunate Losers back in early March and he had this to say about the upcoming album Cut Teeth. ” I’m very proud with how it turned out and I think everybody that’s a fan of rock, hard rock and alternative rock will enjoy it”. I must say this album is very well written and resonated with me bringing me back to the days of Audioslave and Chris Cornell.

This is a superb album that largely revels in the alternative rock and grunge genre delivering everything you’d imagine from a band with influences such as, Led Zeppelin, August Burns Red, Soundgarden, and Our Lady Peace to name a few. There are so many cool parts and riffs that its hard to narrow down precisely what caught my attention and drew me in most.

The new single “Pocket Candy” | iTunes   has that familiarity you’d expect from a band that describes their sound as rock, rock alternative and grunge. This song gives you a glimpse of what you’ll get from the rest of the album. The vocals are very tasteful with a hint of raspy assertiveness while the bass playing style is very melodic, punchy with some really groovy patterns. The guitar players technique is phenomenal as he weaves throughout the fretboard with colorful melodic notes and riffs. Drums are tight with the presence of a solid sound – a very accomplished drummer.

My verdict – Its perfect.  The album is the right length, cohesive and filled with songs that are sure to be hits.  If you are not familiar with their body of work I’d encourage you to grab the new single Pocket Candy  to start with then catch their show when they are playing in your area.
