Another stellar week for new music with plenty of amazing female artists dropping new singles. We’ve narrowed the selection down to five favourites that range in genre from pop to country.

Kesli Mayne

Kicking things off with Kelsi Mayne. Kelsi has a busy summer coming up with numerous festival dates including Festival Country de Lotbiniere and a headlining spot at Big River Country Fest in July.

Kelsi has historically released a single a year but we’re hoping that 2020 is the year that she breaks that mold and delivers us more music!

Sayana

Sayana

I discovered Sayana by accident through my Instagram feed earlier this week. She had posted a video of her performing an acoustic version of her single “Copilot”. This lead me to checkout the studio version of the song and I was hooked. There’s something about her voice that just pulls you in and makes you want to hear more.

“Copilot” was released last week and this week Sayana follows it up with “Salty Water”. “Salty Water” better features this Toronto native’s voice. It’s such a unique sound. We’ve added Sayana to our list of one’s to watch and so should you! Although we haven’t found anything other than her Spotify and Instagram pages yet you can follow her here: https://www.instagram.com/sayanamusic/

Caveboy

I was first introduced to this trio out of Montreal at a Dear Rouge show at the Mansion in Kingston, Ontario. I became an instant fan.

TODAY, electro-posters Caveboy share with the world their DEBUT ALBUM, Night in the Park, Kiss in the Dark (Independent). The album features the heavily playlisted single “Landslide“, 2019 summer jam “I Wonder“, CBC Music Top 20 #1 “Hide Your Love“, Billboard Premiered “Silk for Gold“, and a trippy new video for “N.Y.P.” Caveboy, who recently sold out their first-ever headlining Toronto show, is comprised of Michelle Bensimon (lead vocals, guitar, synth), Isabelle Banos (bass, synths, backing vocals) and Lana Cooney (drums, percussion, backing vocals). The band will celebrate with a hometown show on February 8th at the Phi Centre and will be joined by special guest T. Thomason. This March they will head to NYC for The New Colossus Festival. Details and info can be found below and at www.caveboymusic.com.

Liz Anne Hill

Border is likely one of the most unique songs we’re featuring this week. It’s a country song with a totally different sound and style. Liz Anne Hill was born by the California coast, raised back and forth between a cozy suburb of Los Angeles and a rural mining town in Arizona, the songstress learned to sing, write, and ride at an early age.

Songs penned by Hill have charted on Billboard, been featured in animated films and by major airlines. While Liz Anne enjoyed commercial success as in Hollywood as a pop musician, she quietly continued writing songs for herself like those she heard playing out of the old radio in her grandma’s Cochise County kitchen. In 2017, Hill took a leap of faith, loaded her horse in the trailer, threw her guitar in the trunk, and headed to Nashville. Armed with an arresting voice, and songs that highlight an irresistible ability to wear her heart on her sleeve, Liz Anne Hill recently completed a highly-anticipated EP under the guidance of producer, Louis Nerman.

Her latest single, “Border”, is a must listen I’m confident Border will end up on your playlist and music collection as well.

NEW Indie Collaborative Playlists

If you’re an indie artist in any genre getting your music heard is not easy. Sure you can put it up on Spotify or other streaming services but how can you ensure that people will listen? Getting your song added to relevant playlists is as important as it is difficult so we’ve made it easy and created a few playlists for all you indie artists out there.

How It Works

Simply follow on, or all, of the playlists below and add your new music. We’re accepting all new songs released after December 31, 2019. The playlist is moderated and from time to time we will go through and remove any tracks that either don’t fit the genre of the playlist or were released before the year 2020 began.

Once you’ve added your music listen to the playlist and support your fellow indie artists. Share the playlists so that others can take showcase their music as well.
