Wednesday March 27th Ottawa’s Brass Monkey was host to Rebel 101.7fm  presentation of Monster TruckCurrently on the ‘True Rocker Tour’ the boys from Hammertown have been trucking steadily since 2011. From coast to coast this band is loved and adored by its fans and as such the Ottawa date sold out quickly. The cold weather didn’t stop the audience from showing up early to wait inline for the doors to open to get the party started.

The bands motto Dont F__K with the Truck is a perfect explanation for what they are all about. No bullshit, they get up on stage and bust into the hard nosed in your face rock n roll they’re known for. The audience was feeling no pain, metal horns were high in the air and the decibel level was through the roof. With the energy level peaking to the max frontman Jon Harvey mentioned it felt more like a Friday night rather then a Wednesday.

The true rockers played every song in their arsenal and finished the night off with their 2011 hit Seven Seas Blues. The audience sang loud and proud to every song all night long. I’d be surprised if many had no voices left the following day, And if you asked they would all agree that it was well worth it.

Oshawa’s dynamic duo The Standstills fired the nights festivities up. Frontman/guitarist Jonny Fox lit the place up with his chunky heavy toned riffs, blistering leads and powerhouse vocals, Combined with Renee Couture’s pummelling style of hard hitting drums the two together bring a force to be reckoned with.
