Formed in 2018, Dark Agenda quickly won over the local metal fans with their massive energy, catchy riffs, and powerful vocals. Within its first year on the music scene, the band opened for such acts as Striker, Mushroomhead, Anvil, and Jinjer, having the crowd headbanging. The October 25 show at Wildwood Saloon in Iowa City, IA, was no exception: the crowd was going wild.

Currently, Dark Agenda are: Joshua Ludley (vocals), Jesse Albaugh (lead guitar), Eddie Coyle (rhythm guitar), Dan Bieber (bass), and Robert Dains (drums). Among their influences are such bands as Helloween, Testament, Alice in Chains, Exodus, Slayer, Trivium, and Iron Maiden. As a result, lyrics represent a darker perspective on the universe and focus on that which lies beyond the light. They call themselves ‘disciples of darkness,’ and the message they bring to their audience is about the importance of authenticity. In other words, the key is staying true to oneself while enjoying mysteries of the darker realms.

Earlier this year, Dark Agenda released a self-titled six-track EP (available on Apple music and Spotify). They plan to keep the heavy yet melodic vibe drawing listeners in and bring their sound to a broader audience. “We are giving our audience our life’s work and passion. We’re bleeding out on stage for them. We want them to walk away singing our songs and feeling the energy that we put out.” Clearly, Dark Agenda are a show you don’t want to miss. Whether you like your metal heavy or groovy, they got it.
