After two epic nights of country, Rock the Park shifted gears in Downtown London’s Harris Park. New for 2016 was Virgin Fest 2016, sponsored by 97.5 Virgin Radio, in London. Now, I need to be honest here and say this night’s line up was not one I was really keen on. The line up included local performer, Ria Mae, Canadian rapper Classified, Nelly, and Flo Rida. As a guy who listens to mainly country music and some rock thrown in there, this was bound to be an interesting night.
Week 2 RBC Bluesfest brings huge crowds, rain or shine!
It’s hard to believe we’re already coming to an end of the 2016 edition of RBC Bluesfest. It feels like just yesterday that the lineup was announced and yet here we are going into the final day!
Sun shines on Country Music and a new Pop sensation RBC Bluesfest day 4!
After two days of damp weather and a questionable (weather wise) start to the day California pop starlets Bahari brought the sun back to RBC Bluesfest on Sunday.
Rain hits RBC Bluesfest but doesn’t dampen spirits on first weekend!
It wouldn’t be RBC Bluesfest, or any outdoor festival, if rain didn’t factor into the equation for at least a day or two of the event. But, to me anyway, that’s what makes it all the more special and memorable.
It was a nice day to start again! RBC Bluesfest Day 1
Last night a few thousand dancers came dancing to Lebreton Flats, RBC Bluesfest had been away for so long, so long, but it was a nice day to start again!
Sean Sisk’s Bluesfest Picks
Nothing like a good play on words to get an editor going on an idea with that play on words . Something with more fun for me to do…Photographers Picks.
After delaying, postponing, and telling Soundcheck that I was too busy, in all truth it was sorta fun. Here it is, a couple of my must sees at this year’s RBC Bluesfest.
As someone who grew up in the ’90s, my first 2 are definitely The Cult and of course the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
It may still be June but July Talk and Alvvays ruled 2016 Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival
I’ll be completely honest that most years when our friends at Ottawa Dragon Boat announce their headliners, or their opening acts for that matter, I have little to no idea who they are. Aside from a few acts carried over from last summer’s RBC Royal Bank Bluesfest (Mother Mother, The Beaches and Alvvays) the same stood true this year.
Hey Rosetta! and Dear Rouge to headline 2016 HOPE Volleyball Summerfest
The HOPE Volleyball SummerFest Mainstage every year brings Canada’s most talented musicians to our stage, to entertain our over 20,000 players & spectators. In partnership with NewCap Radio’s Big Money Shot contesting, whose winners play as our opening acts – we will continue to bring the biggest & brightest to rock Mooney’s Bay Beach!
Metallica’s James Hetfield going country?
When I first read that Metallica founder and frontman James Hetfield was leaving the band and going country I was honestly surprised but then it occurred to me that there have been plenty of rockers that made the leap before him so it’s not that far of a stretch.
