Anyone who still says Ottawa is the city that fun forgot needed to be in attendance at RBC Bluesfest last night, or really any night so far this summer. Last night, in particular, record crowds turned out early for prime viewing positions for one of the most requested acts in recent years, the Foo Fighters and newcomers Greta Van Fleet.
Talking Music, Touring and Whiskey with Brett Eldredge
How does Brett like his whiskey? Does he prefer peanut butter cookies or a peanut butter sandwich? Where would Brett go if he had a time machine good for one use only?

It Was “Time Well Spent” With Brett Eldredge at RBC Bluesfest.
Brett Eldredge left fans drunk on his love, last night as he headlined the city stage at RBC Bluesfest in Ottawa,ON. This was Brett’s first show ever in the Nation’s Capital. Brett kicked off the night with his debut single “Something I’m Good At” from his self titled record. Though fans didn’t have to wait too long to hear his current single “Love Someone” which is on the radio now all across the country.
The bar set was brought to life as fans sang along to “The Reason” as Brett poured himself a drink and sang the heartbreaking story of a guy who is so in love with this girl, that he’s so addicted to her love that it’s hurting him. The song was a great lead up into his next track Cycles, which is also from his self titled album that was released in August last year.
Brett’s high energy and goofy stage presence was through the roof the whole night as he sang more tracks from his latest album such as “Superhero” , “No Stopping You” and the emotionally beautiful track “Haven’t Met You”.
Brett commented how amazing it was to be in Ottawa for the first time ever, and he got quite the response and energy from the crowd. This comment led into the fun, up beat track off his sophomore album Illinois which made it to #1 on the US Country Airplay charts, #2 on US and Canada Country charts. This song was his second song to reach over 500,000 in single song sales, the first being Beat of the Music.
That’s not all, fans were treated to some of his music on his debut album including Don’t Ya, Mean To Me, Raymond and of course Beat of the Music was the song to close off the main set. Prior to that, he sang his melodic and lyrically beautiful “Wanna Be That Song” and “The Long Way” .
Fans wouldn’t let Brett go that easily, for his encore he came out and played “Castaway” acoustically which is the last track on his self titled album. The song, is emotional and raw, and it speaks to everyone about wanting and longing to find the love of their life. The person they want to share their life with. The night closed off with “Drunk On Your Love”, which is also the first track of the artist’s to hit number one in Canadian Country.
