Revelry welcomed a night of hip-hop with Canadian artist RZ Rhymeztein opening the show. An experienced performer who has shared stages with artists including T.I., Tech N9ne and Obie Trice, RZ brought plenty of energy to the room and was a natural fit to get the crowd warmed up for the night ahead.

Headlining was Michael Mathers, an Eminem tribute artist who has taken his show around the world, performing in more than 15 countries. Taking on Eminem is no easy task — between his unmistakable voice, rapid-fire delivery and notoriously challenging songs — but Mathers pulled it off remarkably well. At times, he sounded surprisingly close to the real thing.

Joined by his wife behind the decks as his DJ, Mathers worked through plenty of familiar Eminem favourites. While it wasn’t a packed house on a Sunday night, the fans who were there made up for it. They knew the words, sang along and danced throughout the set, creating a fun atmosphere from beginning to end.

More than simply dressing the part, Mathers has clearly put considerable effort into capturing Eminem’s delivery, mannerisms and stage presence. For fans of Eminem, it was an energetic and genuinely entertaining tribute to one of hip-hop’s most recognizable artists.
