This weekend we checked out the first ever Sundaze Music and Arts festival in beautiful Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. Primarily know for the Cavendish Beach Music Festival, this is the first festival to be held on the island in recent memory that has not been a country festival. There were over 10 acts to take the stage over two days, including T-Pain, Cheat Codes and X Ambassadors. The entire weekend was full of music, art, sunshine and good vibes. Check out our full music recap below!

Two Hours Traffic

Two Hours Traffic is a a Canadian Indy rock band. They released their first album in 2005. Although only performing together occasionally now, the band never missed a beat. They performed all of their original songs and had the crowd dancing and singing along.

DJ Jazzy Jeff

The crowd patiently awaited DJ Jazzy Jeff to start his set. Most people knew about his talent as a DJ but even more knew of this acting career as Will Smith’s best friend in “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”. The two were friends on and off stage and performed together as a duo. They had several gold and platinum albums and singles in the 80’s & 90’s. The collaboration continued even performing 2 shows in Europe in 2017. Tonight, however, he was on the stage to rock the crowd at Confederation Landing and that is exactly what he did. He started with a blast and it just continued. The crowd went wild when he started the theme song for “Fresh Prince”.

T-Pain

T-Pain performs at Sundaze

Darkness had fallen by the time T-Pain set was to begin. The crowd was ready to party and you could hear them calling his name. Silently, he approached centre stage and stood motion less in front of the mic. You could see the silent silhouette in the darkness but there was no silence in the crowd. They continued to scream his name until the lights lit the stage and T-Pain took control of the stage. T-Pain released his first album in 2005 and his 2nd album “Epiphany” reached #1 on the US Billboard 200. In February 2019 T-Pain was the winner of “The Masked Singer”. The only thing T-Pain left on the stage was the crowd screaming his name for more.

Scratch Bastid

Skratch Bastid performs at Sundaze

Born in Bedford, Nova Scotia, Paul Murphy, better known by his stage name Skratch Bastid, kicked off his career with a win at the 2003 Scribble Jam. Much like the way he started his career, he kicked the night off with his spin on many fan favourites. From rap to pop with even a digital minute, playing a song from the classic Super Mario. He had everyone in the crowd grooving to raving in the flick of a switch.

Moon Taxi

Moon Taxi performs at Sundaze

Moon Taxi were recently picked up by RCA after being courted by many labels. After watching their performance at Sundaze it was clear why so many different labels were interested in them. Their performance was upbeat and lively, and you could feel the passion the band had for their music while they were playing.

Cheat Codes

Cheat Codes performs at Sundaze Festival

Cheat Codes took to the Sundaze stage and immediately rocked the entire place, their set featured Trevor running about the stage, throwing dollar bills into the crowd, and spraying bottles of champagne over the crowd. The entire time they were on stage it was a constant party. The trio spun an incredible set of pop hits and club dance hits. It was amazing to see how interactive Cheat Codes were with their fans by hanging out in VIP and taking picture before their set, and then heading into the pit with the crowd to watch X Ambassadors.

X Ambassadors

X Ambassadors perform at Sundaze

X Ambassadors didn’t hold off when being the headliner for Sundaze Sunday night by kickstarting the night with their second single, Hey Child, off their latest album, Orion. Playing a handful of songs off their latest albums and previous album, VHS. Nearing the end of his performance the band took their only break in their performance to remind fans that no matter where their set may be, their venue will always been a safe space to enjoy. Ended the night with their hit song Renegades which they let the concert goers sing most of the songs.
