Whether you’ve been a fan of Queen since the 70s, became a fan of Queen thanks to “Bohemian Rhapsody” being featured in Wayne’s World in 1992 or more recently joined the bandwagon after the smash hit Bohemian Rhapsody graced the silver screens around the world one thing is certain…when that familiar beat starts and those lyrics “Buddy, you’re a boy, make a big noise Playing in the street, gonna be a big man someday You got mud on your face, you big disgrace Kicking your can all over the place, singin’ ” I guarantee you your feet will be stomping and your hands will be clapping.

That was the scene last night at TD Place in Ottawa where a sell-out crowd stomped their feet and clapped their hands and sang at the top of their lungs to nearly 30 of Queen’s greatest hits as We Will Rock You, the musical, made it’s debut.

The story takes place in a future where all man-made music has been made illegal and the world is ruled by a corporation called Globalsoft that decides what you should listen to, what you should think and what you should do. A small group of rebels, known as Bohemians, took refuge from the corporation at the Hard Rock Cafe in Las Vegas while they waited for “the one” to come along who would break the spell and free the world from the grips of Globalsoft.

This musical is infectious and the cast was incredible. I’m a huge Queen fan and walked out of the venue with a huge smile on my face last night. If you love music whether it be by Queen or pretty much any other popular artist from the past 40 years you’ll love We Will Rock You!
