Another great week for new music all around with new music coming in from old favourites and plenty of new artists to discover. Here are a few of our favourites.

Jayme Lynne

Jayme Lynne is as new as they come to the Canadian country music scene this week. We first had the opportunity to checkout her debut single “Little Bit of a First Kiss” about a week ago and it’s a stellar debut for this young Canadian artist out of Keswick, Ontario.

You can find out how to follow her career on her official website here: http://jaymelynne.com/

Brittany Kennell

From Beaconsfield (QC), Brittany Kennell packed her bags over 10 years ago to complete her studies at Berklee College of Music in Boston and then spent 8 years in the writing streets of Nashville. She became the first, and only, Canadian to be on NBC The Voice when country superstar Blake Shelton pushed his button to her rendition of Sheryl Crow’s “Strong Enough“. She made it to the knockout round singing Shania Twain’s “You’re Still the One” with Miley Cyrus as her mentor.

In a modern country sound inspired by Kacey Musgraves and Miranda Lambert mixed with some roots and rock influences such as Bonnie Raitt, Joni Mitchell and Sheryl Crow, Brittany is working on an EP to be released in the next few months. This week we get a taste of what’s to come with “Eat Drink Remarry”! What better way to celebrate the release of a new single than to hit the stage with Tebey and Matt Lang during their show in Montreal on Saturday night. Mackenzie Porter

Fresh off her Brad Paisley World Tour 2020 announce, Canada’s country sweetheart MacKenzie Porter has revealed details surrounding
the release of her anticipated new single “Seeing Other People.” The single brings together Porter’s chart-topping vocals with painfully-relatable lyrics.

Written by Jason Afable (Florida Georgia Line), Emily Falvey and Matt McGinn (Jake Owen, Maddie & Tae, Kane Brown) “Seeing Other People” is set to be another massive hit for Alberta’s Porter.

“Seeing Other People is about the hardest moment after a break-up,” explained Porter. “Seeing that person out with someone who isn’t you.
Your whole stomach drops when you see your person looking happier with someone else. I know that feeling all too well and I know so many others have felt the same. I can’t wait for people to hear the heart and vulnerability of this song.”  2020 has much more in store for Canada’s MacKenzie Porter. Fans are invited to follow along so to not miss a second of the excitement via Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and Facebook.

Nicole Rayy

Nicole Rayy knows something about drawing inspiration from love and loss. The universal struggle with finding a solid footing in relationships manifests itself within her process, and gathering from her myriad travels and connections – she has created something that is both familial and engaging.

How fitting that we feature Nicole’s new single “All Women” in a feature about women in music. This song is quickly becoming an anthem for women everywhere empowering them to be all they can be. Nicole has seen some success over the past few years but this single could be the one that pushes her from emerging artist to household name in Canadian country music. Shannon Hynes

One of the first international artists to make our feature, London England’s Shannon Hynes is very much inspired by the poignant honesty of the storytelling in country music. Due to the fact she has studied this music for the majority of her life, she has honed her craft in captivating you in her lyrical stories.

Taking inspiration from past and present leaders in country music, Shannon plans to demonstrate the deep lonesome of the songs she writes with the balance of the innocence and pure tone her vocal evokes. With a new single being released this week, “Comfort”, and an EP release in 2020, Shannon plans to take her career to the next level. Indie Collaborative Playlists

If you’re an indie artist in any genre getting your music heard is not easy. Sure you can put it up on Spotify or other streaming services but how can you ensure that people will listen? Getting your song added to relevant playlists is as important as it is difficult so we’ve made it easy and created a few playlists for all you indie artists out there.

How It Works

Simply follow on, or all, of the playlists below and add your new music. We’re accepting all new songs released after December 31, 2019. The playlist is moderated and from time to time we will go through and remove any tracks that either don’t fit the genre of the playlist or were released before the year 2020 began.

Once you’ve added your music listen to the playlist and support your fellow indie artists. Share the playlists so that others can take showcase their music as well.
