Ottawa’s The Riot Police hit the stage for the Canada Day celebrations in Cornwall Ontario giving a heated performance on what what might have been one of the hottest days of the summer.

These guys have been playing venues across the Ottawa increasing their fan base with each stop and tonight was no different. This was not my first time seeing them and with each show their abilities and stage performance just continue to draw me in.

The band has a knack for writing solid epic lyrics. Two of my favorites they included in their performance in this set were San Francisco and Chicago. Each a different vibe and each a demonstration of the depth in their songwriting abilities.

Boyd’s vocal talents are comparable to that of the late Chester Bennington. Both had the ability to go from high to low registers in an ever so smooth transition. The fact he can do all this live is a testament to his natural capabilities.

The cohesion of the band makes group a great live act to see. Each member taking absolute charge of their part delivering a solid set.

Their new single Ladder is set for release August 30 so mark your calendar make sure it’s on your playlists. Get out and see these guys when they’re in your area – well worth it.
