The Outlaws Music Festival made its way up to Toronto this past Sunday night at the Budweiser Stage. Even an unusual chilly breeze didn’t stop the hardcore fans from enjoying the stripped down lineup.

Local musician Terra Lightfoot opened the show with her 3 piece power rock trio, belting out powerful vocals and screaming guitar solos from her Gibson SG.

Terra’s performance set the stage nicely for modern American country music guitar-slinger Sturgill Simpson’s set.

Then the Tedeschi Trucks Band led by slide guitar master Derek Trucks and Blues singer-guitarist Susan Tedeschi. Extended jams with blues filled riffs, along with touch of gospel, rhythm and blues and soul selections moved the hard-core Southern rock fans in attendance.

The vibe came back down to earth for the music legend Willie Nelson. With his Family band ripping through their repertoire of favourites. His voice, guitar playing and over delivery seemed timeless as he held the devoted crowds attention with near everybody singing along with him.
Pure magic, pure soul, the wake of his words lingers in my head for days to follow.
