10 Days | FREE shows | 85 artists | live chats – an online musical adventure

We may not be able to come together at Confederation Park this summer but the 2020 TD Ottawa Jazz Festival is not entirely gone. From June 19 – 28, we invite everyone to join us wherever you may be for FREE performances of unique online collaborations, with some of the most innovative local, Canadian and international jazz artists with TENACITY.

Combined with prerecorded and live performances, the end result is a high-quality professional production. Local animators have enhanced some of the prerecorded performances with stunning visuals.

Hosted by prominent jazz critic and writer James Hale, each performance will feature a live chat either before or after the show in a one on one conversation with the artists as they probe into the art behind the musical experience. These portraits provide a unique framework to experience some of the most interesting collaborations ever produced.

“We’re very excited by this endeavor which continues our tradition of providing high-end, intimate performances that connect the artist and the audience but in a new medium,” explains Programming Manager Petr Cancura. “We are presenting superlative artists in original projects developed just for our Tenacity series.”

In a remarkable show of support, TD continues to stand behind an appreciative Festival, “As a long-standing supporter of Canadian music and artists, TD is proud to continue sponsoring the Ottawa Jazz Festival this year through TENACITY,” said Tara-Lynn Hughes, Senior Vice President, Retail Banking, Greater Ontario Region. “In what has been a challenging couple of months, it’s fantastic that we are still able to share these projects and performances with the community in a virtual way, and help inspire Canadians with the power of music.”

The TD Ottawa Jazz Festival sends its sincerest gratitude to Ontario Minister Lisa MacLeod and the team at the Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries for its support through the Celebrate Ontario program. 2020 is a critical year for all of us in the event industry, a make or break year for some. This investment is vital to sustain us as we develop new initiatives to engage our audiences and support our artists until we can return to the outdoor, live experience that we all know and that means so much to us.

This investment allows us to create new opportunities for connection, creation, and outreach to our regular audience and to new audiences locally, regionally, and internationally. The TD Ottawa Jazz Festival is open for business!
