The Sam Roberts Band headlined the 11th Annual Beaumont Blues & Roots Festival Saturday with a marathon set.  Known as “Canada’s biggest little music festival”, the festival has always featured a 100% Canadian line up with about 50% being female artists.

Sam Roberts took some time to talk about the World Cup being awarded to Canada in 2026, more specifically Edmonton as one of the host cities, because of a number of inflatable beach balls being tossed around in the crowd that kept ending up in the photo pit. The crowd didn’t quite grasp the concept of keeping the balls in motion amongst themselves and kept trying to hit them back onto the stage.

They may need to work on their beach ball skills, but the audience had no problems keeping up and singing along with the songs. A few times their singing drowned out Sam through the microphone!

He was also taken aback when gifted a custom guitar strap from the festival organizers, designed by Hannah Guitars.

A fireworks display was scheduled for the end of the evening, but due to the length of the set, the audience was treated to the light show throughout the encore.
