Nothing More have been gaining quite the following over the past several years, as they have polished their sound and have been able to reach a wider audience on the back of tours with the likes of Five Finger Death Punch, Papa Roach, and Disturbed. They’ve been able to find a unique sound to strive away from a genre that can sometimes turn bland with repetitiveness. Taking a break from their supporting arena tour, Nothing More decided to do a few headlining shows along the way, making a stop at Theatre Corona in Montreal on Sunday night with openers Bad Wolves and Eyes Set to Kill.

Kicking things off were Eyes Set to Kill, the Phoenix four-piece band that began back in 2003 when screamo and metalcore were taking off to more and more people. Led by vocalist Alexia Rodriguez, the group played a mixed bag of material from their older work to their most recent and second album since signing to Century Media Records in 2012. The band is currently on their own small venue headlining tour that has taken them to Ottawa and Toronto.

Taking to the stage next were up-comers Bad Wolves, whose lineup consists of members from bands such as In This Moment, Devildriver, and Divine Heresy. Bad Wolves combine hard rock with a taste of hardcore on the occasional track, mostly thanks to vocalist Tommy Vext. While only having one album out so far, their standout cover of Zombie (originally by The Cranberries in 1994) did extremely well. Landing at #1 on the Billboard mainstream rock charts as well as going Platinum in the States and Gold in Canada, the reception has been very positive. Another track that made it big was Hear Me Now, which featured Diamante who made the trip out to sing her part.

As the lights dimmed, several unusual mechanical instruments that Nothing More are known for live made their way on stage. Instruments such as a mechanical arm that creates dubstep noises, to a vocal looper that has a large amount of effects, and even a spinning bass that multiple people can play. Jonny Hawkins stepped out next, getting behind his own drums that look like they were caged together out of scrap metal from a junkyard. He then climbed on top of them, pumping the crowd up and going straight into a frenzy on the drums. Joined by the rest of the band, the group was quick out of the gate with Do You Really Want It? And Let ‘em Burn. Also featured throughout the night was singles Go To War and This is the Time, a Skrillex cover of First of the Year and Salem.
