A Legendary Night at the Canadian Tire Centre
Sunday March 1st iconic Thrash Metal legends Megadeth lit the stage on fire at the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa. You can’t think of heavy metal without thinking of Megadeth, and their performance Sunday night was a full‑on demonstration of why they are more popular than ever and still keeping the love of Heavy Metal alive in fans new and old. Joining them on their Canadian run are also top four Thrash Metal legends Anthrax and Exodus. It was a full‑out metal assault full of moshing, circle pits, and headbanging.
Exodus: Melting Faces From the First Note

Exodus starts the night off with a bang. These guys came out with one purpose and one purpose only—to shred guitars and melt faces. Delivering a blistering performance and showcasing their extreme talents, it’s easy to see how these guys are on top of the metal world as greats.
Between the powerful vocals, the incredible guitar work, and the thunderous drumming, it really was all about the raw emotion that pours from both the band and the audience. Lead singer Rob Dukes decides he wants to get a little closer to the crowd as he jumps off the stage and onto the speakers. This gets the people cheering louder as he motions for even more hype.
Fans at the barricade are headbanging while people behind them are jumping, with circle pits erupting all over the floor. Exodus blew me away—they set the tone for the entire night and put on a masterclass of thrash metal, combining technical skill and raw passion.
Anthrax: Thriving, Shredding, and Commanding the Stage

Anthrax is up next, and what a set they put on—showing exactly how they’ve been thriving and shredding for decades. Every member of the band is constantly moving from one side of the stage to the other, giving fans a chance to see them up close as they work their magic.
Lead singer Joey Belladonna is spectacular, delivering insane vocal ranges and sheer power. Their stage presence is incredible—just like Exodus, you can tell everyone in the band is on the same wavelength, and it’s never about one single performer. Their chemistry and interaction onstage are phenomenal.
Their love for metal is obvious after all these years, and the way they showcase it through their energy translates perfectly to the crowd—who send that love and energy right back.
Megadeth: A Thrash Metal Masterclass

Last but certainly not least, the almighty Megadeth hit the stage. When it comes to a Megadeth show, you are guaranteed to be blown away with insane guitar riffs, hard‑hitting drums, and nonstop heart‑thumping energy from the very beginning.
That’s exactly what happened. As the lights go out and the arena is wrapped in darkness, the stage is covered by a white sheet. The band begins to play “Tipping Point”, only showing their silhouettes. When the song fully kicks in, the sheet drops—and the crowd erupts with a deafening roar.
Dave Mustaine: Timeless, Powerful, and Still Shredding
Megadeth is a mesmerizing band—they put on an insane and wild show. Dave Mustaine can still shred like no other, and his vocals remain unbelievably flawless. The atmosphere was unbelievable; at one point the entire section I was sitting in was shaking, as if the world itself was moving.
The band’s connection with fans is clear and deeply appreciated. Dave talked about their brand‑new self‑titled album Megadeth and mentioned hearing rumors that the metal scene was dying. But after hearing that the two singles from the album reached #1 in North America, he became a bit choked up, thanking fans for keeping metal alive and well.

This concert was truly magical. It was more than just a performance—it was decades of metal history, storytelling, friendship, and unforgettable memories all coming together in one place. From the fans who’ve been there since day one to the newer listeners who recently discovered them, Megadeth continues to unite metal lovers of every generation, creating a safe and welcoming space for anyone who loves music and the metal community.
Even before Exodus took the stage, the excitement in the arena was electric. As the night went on, every band delivered a performance that Ottawa won’t soon forget. Megadeth remains a timeless band whose music transports you to a happier place, and everyone who attended this show will forever be taken back to this incredible night each time they hear these songs again.
