Léa Jarry launched her first EP in 2019. In the 3 years that follow, she was nominated at ADISQ and at the GAMIQ, two major musical events in the province, got 3 nominations at GalaCountry 2020 and launched her first album. Need we remind you that this was during a pandemic? So when she announced a show in Montreal, we had to be there.

Veranda, a Bluegrass duo, was opening the evening. Catherine-Audrey Lachapelle and Léandre Joly-Pelletier’s songs are lively, down-to-earth  scenes of everyday life. They also offered a few covers, including their own version of one of the most iconic duos in Country Music, Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers’ “Islands in the Stream”. When the last note resonated in the venue, the first thought that came to mind was “Really? So soon?” And, looking around, it was obvious many felt the same.

We did not have to wait long to hear the star of the evening. After a short video introduction, the curtain dropped to reveal Léa Jarry and her band. She was ready, she was eager, and she was pumped. She played songs from her album, L’heure d’été, a new song from an upcoming English album, and she invited a few friends to play with her. Ludovick Bourgeois, winner of La Voix 2017 was the first; they did two songs together. Her other guest was Guylaine Tanguay, the reigning Queen of Country in Quebec; they obviously had a lot of fun together.

As far as we are concerned, the evening was a total success. Those of you who missed the show will have other chances to see Léa at many festivals this summer, among them, the first edition of Lasso Montréal.
