Deerhurst Resort brought the Jim Cuddy Band back again late last year as the highlight of their holiday season special event series. The sold-out soirée featured top-notch catering for a variety of corporate parties, large and small, great dining for current resort guests (overwhelmingly Jim Cuddy fans), topped by a dynamic evening of great music by great musicians.

About 600 well-fed partiers made their way to the Legacy room after dinner for an energetic concert by the Jim Cuddy Band, featuring a broad selection of Jim’s solo work, and picks from his Blue Rodeo repertoire. Colin Cripps, pictured above with Jim, expertly handled guitar work and back-up vocals.

Deerhurst has concocted a memorable recipe combining a holiday party with a great performance by a Canadian icon. The warm house-party feel was helped along by the informal ‘stand-up concert’ format with revellers packed onto the dance floor in front of the stage.  Laura Kennedy, Deerhurst’s Director of Marketing, shared, “Jim Cuddy’s annual trek to Deerhurst in December is now an entrenched tradition here – this was the 6th time he’s been the headliner for our last holiday party concert of the year, and he’s always a crowd-pleaser!

Our cohort of usual suspects from Cambridge initially made the trek to Huntsville just as Jim Cuddy fans, but once at Deerhurst discovered all the resort hospitality staff were talented, friendly, professional, occasionally hilarious, and were instrumental in taking our whole weekend resort-road-trip experience over the top. Thanks in particular to Deerhurst’s Johnny, Jenn, Leslie and Leanne!

Until next time…
