Irish alt/indie band Fontaines D.C. hit Columbus, Ohio Friday night on their USA Tour 2022. The band has continued its steady rise in popularity since signing with Partisan Records in 2018. The band’s debut album, Doggrel, was released in 2019 and A Hero’s Death in 2021- both garnered worldwide praise and racked up awards. Their third album Skinty Fia, released last month, became the band’s first to reach number one on the UK Albums and Irish Albums Charts.

The members of the band are Grian Chatten (vocals, tamborine), Carlos O’Connell (guitar, backing vocals), Conor Curley (guitar, piano, backing vocals), Conor Deegan III (bass guitar, guitar, backing vocals), and Tom Coll (drums).

Fontaines D.C. perform at The Newport Music Hall in Columbus, Ohio 4.29.22

When the band visited Columbus in 2019 Doggrel was creating quite a buzz and the concert  at The Ace Of Cups sold out. The show at the Newport had a much bigger crowd, eager to hear tunes from Skinty Fia live. Frontman Grian wasted no time getting the crowd worked up. He circled the stage frantically jerking his head and hands as if trying to exorcise inner demons while clutching the mic stand and dragging it about the stage. He really knows how to set the mood on stage for the crowd to get into.

The set list for the night was a taste of all three albums to date with Skinty Fia’s “Nabokov” opening the show and “Jackie Down The Line” closing it.

Can’t wait to see how this band progresses in their musical artistry in the coming years! They keep raising the bar for themselves in their creative process of making music and continue to win over critics with each album release.

Plenty of dates left on this tour, see the list below!
