The sixth edition of the Lotbinière Country Festival, a pioneer of country music in Quebec and one of the largest of its kind in Eastern Canada, today announces the postponement of its current edition initially scheduled for mid-June.

The Festival will be officially held from September 24 to 26, 2021 in the municipality of Saint-Agapit, near Quebec. The event will host international artists Granger Smith and High Valley, as well as Quebec country darling Matt Lang! It is a huge win for the organization to have been able to find a date when all artists in the current lineup were available.

“We are very happy to have been able to postpone the festival a little later this year. Of all the scenarios that we had been considering since this fall, it was the most difficult to achieve. Obviously, we are disappointed not to not hold the festival in mid-June, but we are hopeful of being able to deliver a Lotbinière Country Festival at the end September!”, said Guillaume Laflamme, co-founder of the Festival Country de Lotbinière.

Despite the last few weeks that have brought their share of hope, the Lotbinière Country Festival has decided to move forward with its plan to hold the face-to-face edition in the fall. This is the first festival to postpone its summer edition until the end of September. According to the opinion of several public health experts, the fall of 2021 could be the beginning of a return to normalcy if all epidemiological factors are controlled.

There are too many uncertainties right now to hold a festival of this magnitude in mid-June. The planning of a festival is prepared months in advance and, at the moment, most activities are on hiatus, including the promotion surrounding the sale of tickets. We cannot wait for the “GO” of public health in May, it will be too late for us, specified Guillaume Laflamme.

We are aware that we are taking a risk. The chances of having to cancel or postpone again are there, but we had to take the chance to hold the festival this year for our festival-goers and our artists. You also had to move quickly, because it was the only window where all the artists were available, added the co-founder of the Festival Country de Lotbinière.

Matt Lang, one of Quebec’s brightest country stars

“Opening night headliner Matt Lang is one of Canada’s most promising new country artists. He was the first Quebecer to win Sirius XM’s famous Top of the Country contest in 2019 with Better When I Drink. And since then, his rise has been meteoric: recording an album in Nashville and shows across the country!

“In 2018, he ignited the crowd by opening for the Brett Kissel show. Just three years later, it’s her turn to headline! We are very proud to have been part of his rise to the Canadian country music scene and Matt deserves the success he is enjoying today. He’s a passionate guy and it’s like reuniting with a good friend on September 24th !”, Guillaume Laflamme, co-founder of the Festival Country de Lotbinière

High Valley, the New Country duo of the hour in Canada!

High Valley’s career has recently been taken into high gear: Following the huge success of their debut album Dear Life in 2016, which saw the duo’s first top 10 on country radio, the band earned two consecutive Academy of Country Music Awards (ACM Awards) in the “New Vocal Duo or Group Of The Year” category. High Valley soon took to the world, sometimes as a guest of artists like Old Dominion, and sometimes as a headliner.

“We have been coveting the Canadian duo of the Rempel brothers for several years. After a multitude of sold-out tours in Canada, the United States and Europe, High Valley is in high demand everywhere. We are proud to welcome them on September 25th. Each year, our festival-goers asked to be able to see them at the festival, so it’s a mission accomplished for us !”, said Guillaume Laflamme, co-founder of the Festival Country de Lotbinière.

Granger Smith take 3!

The Festival is very happy with the return of Granger Smith with Earl Dibbles JR. at the end of the Festival on the PNS-TECH stage. Recall that Granger Smith had to cancel his performance at Saint-Agapit in 2019 due to the tragic death of his son. This will be the first show in Quebec for the artist, who will thus be the first international American star  to perform at the Festival! Recognized singer-songwriter across the United States and Australia, Granger Smith has nearly 1 billion views online and more than 7 million social media followers.

For an artist close to his fans like Granger Smith, it could not have happened otherwise: it was necessary to resume the missed appointment !, said Guillaume Laflamme, co-founder of the Festival Country de Lotbinière.
