New Single “Sunshine” out now!!

Upcoming National Tour Includes Performances at 35th Annual East Coast Music Awards

Nova Scotia-based indie folk artist Daniel James McFadyen has announced his new single “Sunshine”, out now via Canary Minor Music on all streaming platforms.

Produced by Montreal’s Quinn Bachand, “Sunshine” is a bittersweet love song laced with intricate melodies and compelling instrumentation. A happy accident, the track came to fruition when McFadyen stumbled across a long-forgotten voice note containing the idea for its hook. Quickly, “Sunshine” would emerge as the lead single off the singer-songwriter’s forthcoming EP, set for release this Fall.

“Once I got to the studio with the idea for “Sunshine”, it was clear that it was going to be the focus of the EP,” says McFadyen. “There’s a mix of sweetness and eeriness in it that I’ve never explored before, and that experimentation definitely paid off.”

The song will be front and center during McFadyen’s recently announced Sunshine Tour, which makes stops across Atlantic Canada, Quebec, Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia. Among the run of dates is a special pair of performances taking place in Halifax, Nova Scotia for the 35th annual East Coast Music Awards where McFadyen’s 2022 single “Hot Sun” is nominated for ‘Best Song’ and ‘Rising Star Recording’. In addition to these exciting shows, McFadyen has been selected to perform on June 17th at Canada’s prestigious music discovery festival NXNE. Hosted in Toronto, NXNE is known for presenting the country’s top up-and-coming talent to music industry professionals and fans alike.

McFadyen’s lively, interactive shows have sold out across Canada, filling iconic venues such as Toronto’s Horseshoe Tavern and the Marquee Ballroom in Halifax. McFadyen’s award-nominated debut album, August, I’m Yours, was released in 2021 to critical acclaim, securing his place as a rising act to watch in the Canadian music scene.

Songs to Show Your Friends, McFadyen’s forthcoming EP, is available to listen to exclusively on vinyl ahead of its Fall 2023 release. Fans are invited to pre-order the record online, or visit the merch table on tour to purchase.
