The last night of Cityfolk in Ottawa was a boot stompin’ good time!

Bringing it home on this final night of the 2021 Cityfolk Festival were the all-Canadian trio of Sacha Visagie, The Reklaws, and Dean Brody. Cowboy boots, hats and plaid were scattered throughout the crowd. Everyone was pumped to let loose and sing along to their favorites from these Canadian mainstays.

First up was relative newcomer Sacha, originally from small town Ontario. Although she looks more like a rock star, her mix of traditional and pop-country has gained her a loyal following. She has been hailed as a “Future Star” by iHeart radio and she is quickly making a name for herself both North and South of the border. She comes across as a genuinely nice person who has a story to tell and a message to share. Her vocal abilities are outstanding and we predict great things for her. Oh, and please keep playing Taylor Swift covers. That was fantastic!

Next up were the sibling duo The Reklaws, also from rural Ontario. This brother-sister pair has been gaining momentum following a nomination for the CCMA Discovery Artist award in 2013. Who can forget that their song Roots was selected as the official song for TSN’s broadcast of IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships in 2019? With a flashy new engagement ring on her finger, Jenna was the star attraction of the night with Stuart carrying his own weight in powerful vocals. The Killers mixed in to their set was a nice surprise I must say.

Canadian country music icon Dean Brody was the final performer of the night. It was obvious that the crowd was more than ready for him to serenade them. With his beard a bit longer than the last time we saw him perform (Covid beard?), he launched into some of his favorites including the effervescent Bush Party.
