If you grew up in the 80’s you knew very well that you could wear your sunglasses at night thanks to Corey Hart.  He has sold over 16 million records worldwide and scored nine consecutive US Billboard Top 40 hits. Nominated for Best New Artist at the Grammy’s in 1984, has amassed 30 Top 40 hits, including 11 in the Top 10 in Canada.  An inductee of both Canada’s Music Hall of Fame and Canada’s Walk of Fame and is also a multiple Juno award nominee and winner.

Celebrating his 57th birthday Hart is currently on a cross Canadian tour in support of his first release in twenty years titled ‘Dreaming Time Again’.  The album has 6 original songs that included a collaboration with Blue Rodeo’s Jim Cuddy, a cover of Ron Hynes Sonny’s Dream which features Great Big Sea’s Alan Doyle and is Produced by Legendary Bob Ezrin who has worked with the likes of  Nine Inch Nails, Hanoi Rocks, Kiss, Alice Cooper, Peter Gabriel and variety of others.

Having left the spotlight to start a family and live a quiet life to returning two decades later one would wonder what the Canadian ” James Dean” was going to bring to the table. Was he going to bring back the style he had back in the day with the likes of I Wear My Sunglasses at Night or Never Surrender?  Or are we going to see a much more different Corey Hart? If you were expecting to hear that signature 80’s synthesizers sound you’re going to have to continue listening to the Hart of old. ‘Dreaming Time Again’ brings a very fresh sound that involves pianos with an upbeat tempo, acoustic guitars, thick melodic chorus’s backed by gospelesque choirs, a soft soothing ballad and a love song to his wife Québécois singer Julie Masse.  It’s safe to say that after twenty years Corey Hart has brought a more mature sounding record to the playing field. Old and new fans alike will be able to appreciate his latest work and as always there’s nothing stopping you from wearing your sunglasses at night.
