Back in the spring we sat down with Dallas Smith shortly before he took the stage at Festival Country de Lotbinière. It was a gloomy day and rain had been falling much of the day but it did little to dampen the spirits of Dallas or the country fans eager for Smith’s debut performance in la belle province.

Smith was a late addition to the bill being added mere days before opening night after tragedy fell on Granger Smith’s family forcing him to cancel his appearance. We spoke about this in our interview and Dallas expressed his condolences to the other Smith and his family and promised Quebec country fans a show they wouldn’t forget. Dallas and I also touched on his recent reunion with his rockstar past and his tour with Default and whether he ever sees himself returning to the rock world.

Dallas is about to hit the road with his friends Dean Brody, Chad Brownlee and Mackenzie Porter on his Friends Don’t Let Friends Tour Alone Tour, which kicks off a week from Wednesday in Sault Ste. Marie. We talked about the tour, what we can expect from the show and his relationships with his fellow tour mates.

Before Dallas can hit the stage he’ll be hosting the Canadian Country Music Association Awards this Sunday with Billy Ray Cyrus, you’ll be able to catch all the action LIVE on Global on September 8 at 9 p.m. EST/PST.

Special thanks to Dallas for taking the time so close to his performance to chat, we look forward to seeing Dallas and his friends in Ottawa in a few weeks.
