I’m not gonna lie, I was really waiting for new music from my favorite artist.
Like I’ve done a few times, I wanted to share my own thoughts about this new work… so it’s not a real review but if you want to read something from a fan a point … I encourage you to continue your reading. So let’s do this.

Two things stand up for me from this “South album”.
First: Brett’s voice. For me Brett’s voice never sounded so good.  It just hit right with passion on “Line in The Sand”, gave me goosebumps on ” Our Home”. Second: I was surprised to sing some of the songs after one time.  They are so catchy.  Even the “slower ” one (Like” Start and End”) or the most meaningful songs (once again I’m thinking of ” Line in The Sand”).

The South Album is the kind of work that everyone will find something they like. It could be “Cadillac Ranch” – a cover that the ones who likes more rock vibes or the old country lovers will absolutely adore. If you are like me and are a mega fan of “Airwaves” … “That’s Just You” is definitely YOUR song of the album.  By the way, I really hope that some songs will find their way to a future tour. Songs like:  “Never I Have Ever”, “That’s Just You” and “All I Ever Wanted”… I definitely can picture myself sing at the top of my lungs and dance my life in the middle of the crowd at a Concert. Other songs will definitely have an impact on fans lives for different reasons: “Watch It” hits you right in the feels with its nostalgia vibes and the ” soak everything in because life happens so fast” emergency or need that comes from hit. “Line In the Sand” is another one that will definitely find its way through your heart. Even if you don’t agree with his positions (I mean to each their own opinions and as a fan I might not be agree with every single thing he voice his opinion on) … we all have at some point in our lives draw a line in the sand … we all stand up to protect what we value the most, what we cherish the most; and that will connect to almost everyone.

Overall, this album, is the best way to start this “Compass project”: you have the good catchy songs, the songs that hits your right in the feels, the songs that you want to listen driving in the backroads windows down and feel freedom everywhere around you, the songs that you want to listen when your heart is broken and the songs you want to hear live.

Editor’s note: The Compass project will consist of 4 albums: North, South, East and West all to be released in 2023 and each with a different theme. We thought it would be fun to invite some of Brett’s biggest fans to offer their thoughts on the new project from a fan’s perspective.
