First-year pro propelled to win by flawless 2-for-2 effort during Canadian debut

In his PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Canada debut, first-year pro Austin Richardson (Wilmer, Texas) captured the first win of his career, victorious in Ottawa, Ontario inside the Canadian Tire Centre at the second stop of the Monster Energy Tour, presented locally by Circle K.

The 18-year-old began the evening with an 83-point trip on El Camino (Wild Hoggs Bucking Bulls), the third best score of Round 1. In the Championship Round, after earning a re-ride, Richardson made the 8 on Catch My Drift (Two Bit Bucking Bulls/K Rose Ranch) for 87 points, propelling him to both the round and event win.

For his flawless performance, the Texan earned a paycheck for $6,416.48 along with 500 Canadian and 120 world points. After his eighth event, Richardson is now ranked No. 55 in the world, 147.5 points outside of the Top 35 and a spot on the elite 25th PBR: Unleash The Beast.

Second went to Lonnie West (Cadogan, Alberta), earning $4,798.08, 250 Canadian and 70 world points.

His perfect 2-for-2 performance included an 84.5-point ride on Myth Boy (Wild Hoggs Bucking Bulls) in Round 1, followed by 84 points on Tequila Jax (Vold Rodeo) in the Championship Round.

West is now ranked No. 47 in the world, 102.5 points removed from the Top 35 and a return to the league’s premier tour. In his quest for his first PBR Canada Championship, West rose from No. 27 to No. 9 in the national standings. He now trails No. 1 Brock Radford (De Winton, Alberta) by 649.17 points.

Recording his second third place effort in as many weeks, Dayton Johnston (Milk River, Alberta) rode Smash (Skori Bucking Bulls) for 82.5 points in Round 1, and 2015 PBR Canada Bull of the Year Minion Stuart (Skori Bucking Bulls)for 83.5 points in the event’s final round.

The 19-year-old, second-year pro earned a check for $2,465.68, along with 175 Canadian and 40 world points. Johnston rose one spot in the national standings, now ranked No. 6 and 467.5 points behind Canada’s leader Radford.

Reigning PBR Canada Champion Zane Lambert (Ponoka, Alberta) finished fourth as the final rider to be perfect inside the home of the Ottawa Senators. His sixth Top-10 effort of the season, Lambert collected $2,227.68, 130 Canadian and 20 world points.

The Canadian veteran first made the 8 on Paint the Town (Skori Bucking Bulls) for 78.5 points in Round 1, which he followed with an 84.5-point trip on Tykro Checkered Flag (Wild Hoggs Bucking Bulls) in his final out.

Holding firm at fifth in the national standings, Lambert closed the gap on Radford, now 453.34 points off the national lead.

In just his third event back since undergoing reconstructive shoulder surgery at the conclusion of the 2017 season, Koal Livingston (Burleson, Texas) was fifth. His second Top-5 effort of the season was backed by his Round 1-winning, 86-point ride on Ulterra’s Night Vision (Wild Hoggs Bucking Bulls).

For the second time this season, Happy Camper (Two Bit Bucking Bulls) was named the high-marked bull of the event. The bovine athlete was awarded a 44.5-point bull score for his trip in the Championship Round.
