Sudbury’s country star Andrew Hyatt takes on the stage at the El Mocambo in Toronto on May 6th for a private party to release his EP Four Good Years! Fans, friends and family all joined in for a night of old hits, new hits and of course his debut song Four Good Years. Accompanied with opening acts such as Cory James Mitchell Band and Alli Walker, it was a night for Canadian’s, by Canadian’s.

Without giving anything away, the show started strong and finished even stronger! Even with a surprise guest near the end of the show Kelly Prescott taking on the stage for Wild Flowers. Hyatt’s band along with himself couldn’t have sounded better together, everything and everyone were in tune with one another.

Hyatt proving the record label wrong after expressing to the crowd that he wanted his songs to be louder and more in your face. They disapproved but he did it anyway and the success keeps coming in. Sharing shots and drinking beer with the crowd, “I needed that he said, there’s nothing like a party”. It was nice to see everyone on their feet and on the floor centre stage, enjoying each others company as well as the music being played for the crowd. Can’t wait to see how the album is received from the public but if its anything like the crowd on Friday night, they’re going to love it!

The Cory James Mitchell Band hail from Sarnia, Ontario Canada. Known for their “blue collar” act, and that’s exactly who they are in an unapologetic style. Just finishing on the road with Blackberry Smoke, there appears to be no rust as they take back the stage. Working class music with a hard hitting band, what could go wrong! A great opening act for Andrew Hyatt as they warmed up the stage with their presence. A must see for entertainment, drinks and a good time. I would recommend catching them at a town near you or definitely make the drive out to see them.

Opening the night was an east coaster that goes by the soon-to-be household name Alli Walker. A soft soul with an impactful voice that has a way with her lyrics to pull you in. Playing her hits such as “Country Music”, “Maybe I’m Still Drunk”, “Little Things” and “Raise Your Hands” just to name a few. Enjoying a nice glass of wine between songs and thriving in conversations with the crowd with nothing less than a big smile on her face and a little fun banter with everyone in the room. She has a mainstream commercial sound with real lyrics to back it up, true stories that pull on the heart strings as we all can relate.

If you haven’t checked out her new single that’s already buzzing the mainstream “Maybe I’m Still Drunk” you have to go listen to it right now! Walker is a true artist at heart and it shows in her work, it’s time for her big break, having moved west to Toronto over 10 years ago, she’s in the right place to make this dream a reality. Amazing both on and off the stage as she took all the time in the world to talk to everyone who approached her after her set, even have a glass of wine with them. I can’t wait to see her at her next show because I will for sure be there!
