On a busy Saturday night in Kelowna filled with concerts, sporting events, and packed patios, Red Bird Brewing quietly became the place to be for live music lovers looking for something more intimate. Beneath glowing outdoor lights and surrounded by tabletop fires, fans gathered for an evening that blended heartfelt storytelling, indie-rock grit, and unforgettable live performances. With local openers Rise Over Run setting the tone before powerful sets from Tess Anderson and Elli Hart, the night felt personal from beginning to end.
Opening the evening was local band Rise Over Run, who immediately connected with the crowd through a warm and genuine performance. Early in the set came one of the night’s sweetest moments when the lead singer stepped off the stage carrying roses to celebrate his two-year anniversary with his girlfriend. The couple shared a dance together while the band played on, earning cheers and smiles from the audience gathered around the patio fires. It was an authentic and touching way to begin the evening, perfectly matching the intimate atmosphere Red Bird Brewing has become known for.
Elli Hart followed with a performance that blended raw Americana grit with soaring indie-rock intensity. Hart’s voice carried a haunting strength through the cool evening air, while her guitar work and emotionally honest songwriting held the audience completely captive. Having previously performed under the name Dirty Mountain before stepping away during the pandemic and returning under her own name, Hart performed with both confidence and renewed artistic purpose. Highlights of her set included Tangled Up Lies, followed by an incredible rendition of Mercedes Bendz, both of which showcased her ability to create atmosphere and emotional weight within a live performance. The crowd remained locked in throughout her set, listening intently beneath the glow of the outdoor lights.
Closing out the evening was Vancouver-based artist Tess Anderson, whose undeniable stage presence transformed the intimate brewery setting into something much larger. From the moment she stepped on stage, Anderson commanded attention with a performance that balanced vulnerability, confidence, and alt-rock edge. Her sound moved effortlessly between haunting indie textures and explosive emotional release, supported by driving guitars and deeply personal songwriting. Whether leaning into softer reflective moments or building toward heavier sonic intensity, Anderson held the audience in the palm of her hand. There was a magnetic quality to her performance that made it impossible to look away, and by the end of the night, it was clear why she was the perfect artist to headline an evening built around atmosphere and emotional connection.
As the final notes faded into the Kelowna night sky, Red Bird Brewing once again proved why it continues to be one of the city’s most beloved live music venues. The combination of intimate surroundings, heartfelt performances, and authentic moments created an experience that felt personal long after the music ended. From Rise Over Run’s touching anniversary dance to Elli Hart’s emotionally charged set and Tess Anderson’s commanding finale, the evening was a reminder that some of the most powerful live music experiences happen not in massive arenas, but in spaces where artists and audiences can truly connect.
