Pantera delivered on its claim to being the “heaviest” and no doubt the loudest tour of the summer at Cascades Amphitheater in Ridgefield, Washington on Saturday night August 23rd!

Pantera’s set opened to a video montage with “Suicide Note Pt. 1” playing. The video clips prominently featured Pantera legendary co-founders and brothers Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul who are sadly no longer with us. (Dime was shot and killed by a fan in Columbus, Ohio in 2004 and Vinnie died of natural causes in 2018). Many of the clips showed the on-the-road antics of the band, sometimes drunken and destructive, sometimes lighthearted with lots of laughter.

Finally, the giant curtain with PANTERA emblazoned on it was lowered and the fans went wild as the band took the stage. Lead vocalist Phil Anselmo sported a King Parrot T-shirt as a nod to the Australian metal band who opened the show. The crowd was ramped up and ready, hot and sweaty – it was a sweltering 99 degrees at the venue but that did not curb the enthusiasm of the crowd full of diehard heavy metal fans!

Pantera smashed through a brutal setlist with fan favorites such as “Hellhound,” “Mouth For War,” “I’m Broken” and “Cowboys from Hell.” During what is their most well know song “Walk,” the famous Seahawks Blue Thunder drumline made its way into the amphitheater to provide some added percussion. The crowd’s approval was signaled by many horns up for the dummers!
Support was provided by Amon Amarth and King Parrot.
