It was the fall of 2014 we were approached by the folks at the Spencerville Stampede asking if we’d be interested in working with them on their 2015 entertainment lineup.  Going into their 4th year this year the Stampede had always had a musical component but they wanted to raise the ante and bring some higher profile entertainment to the event.

The first task when booking entertainment for any event is to figure out who to book.  You want an artist that will draw the fans.  We decided that the best way to start was to ask the people that would be buying the tickets, the fans themselves.  So we took to social media and ask them directly.  The response was almost unanimously for Tim Hicks.  After months of hard work and preparation we delivered Tim Hicks to Spencerville and boy did he bring the party.

The show kicked off with an afternoon rodeo demonstration, followed by music by Erik Dylan, who made quite the impact in his Canadian debut taking the time to meet many new fans throughout the night, and Ottawa’s own River Town Saints.  Ottawa’s own Kira Isabella took to the stage next to get everyone ready for the main event and, as usual, she did not disappoint.  She and her band wasted no time in getting the crowd whipped up into a frenzy.  By the time Tim took to the stage the crowd was a powder keg ready to explode.

With a spirited introduction by our own Corey Kelly and New Country 94’s Ryan Lindsay, Tim lit the fuse that would lead to one of the greatest single performances I’ve ever seen out of Tim Hicks.  Since first meeting Tim two years ago to becoming friends over the past year watching his performance and showmanship get better with each show is something amazing.  Not only is Tim Hicks one of the top performers this country has to offer he’s one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet.  I want to personally thank Tim for his support of Sound Check over the past few years, I couldn’t think of anyone I’d rather have kick off the show for the first ever Sound Check Entertainment promoted festival!

The party in Spencerville continues today with rodeo action kicking off in just under an hour and then the music continues tonight with performances by Abby Stewart, Erik Dylan, Brett Kissel and Emerson Drive.  Tomorrow’s lineup includes rodeo in the afternoon and music by Blackwell Band, Leah Daniels, Cory Marquardt and Autumn Hill to cap off the weekend.  Don’t miss it!
