We’ve been having a lot of discussion about Boots and Hearts over the past few weeks but there’s another country music festival happening in Ontario this weekend and Sound Check’s Mary-Rae Knapp will be on-site all weekend along with Anita James Bell who will be helping us out on the photography side of things. The festival is Manitoulin Country Fest and starting this Thursday it will play host to some of the biggest names in Canadian Country Music.
The 9th annual event, which takes place in Little Current, Ontario on Manitoulin Island, kicks off on Thursday evening with performances by Leah Daniels, Beverly Mahood and featuring Johnny Reid. Mary-Rae will sit down with Johnny Reid on Thursday for an exclusive interview, watch for it next week!
Friday’s performances kick off with Me and Mae followed by Lindsay Broughton, Buffy Sainte-Marie and then headliner Tom Cochrane with Red Rider.
The party continues Saturday with performances starting at 2pm with Naomi Bristow followed by Johnny Burke, Genevieve Fisher, Tristan Horncastle, The Boom Chucka Boys, Autumn Hill and Saturday’s headliner Gord Bamford!
Sunday wraps up the weekend’s entertainment with performances by Jack Connolly and Canucky Bluegrass Boys.
Watch for full event coverage next week. For full event details and ticket information visit www.manitoulincountryfest.com
