Award winning country-pop artist, Scotty James just signed by Liberty Stone Records is set to release his début full-length album, Streets, on September 18.  We’ve got an exclusive look at the official lyric video for his début single: “Toes” (watch it below exclusively on Sound Check Entertainment)

No stranger to the music scene, James’ first pop single, Wanna Be Loved, landed him the 20th spot on Canada’s AC Billboard in 2012. Streets will be a three-part release kicking off with “Toes”, the first single on the album, set to drop to radio on June 10, followed by the Summer James Three Pack which includes “Toes”, “Sugar Don’t”, and “Cancun” being released on June 24. The album is reminiscent of early Rascal Flatts meets Keith Urban with a touch of Taylor Swift, incorporating themes of romance, heartbreak and the revelations James makes through his life experiences.

“This album felt so right and I couldn’t be happier to release a body of work that will take listeners on a roadtrip of emotions that they’ll genuinely be able to connect with” says Scotty James. “This album was really about finding myself and my own sound over the last two years; I can’t wait to share it with fans”

Scotty James

Prior to his first album in 2010 and leading up to the signing of his first record deal, James spent the better part of the last five years going door-to-door, serenading people for smiles and the chance to raise funds for his music career. It was by sheer luck that he knocked on the door of his now manager, Johnny Ioannou, who funded his first album and helped him get signed to Liberty Stone Records.

Making his way into the industry, James has worked with some of music’s most talented writers and producers, including Todd Clark, Donovan Woods and Ian Smith. Before producing Streets, James released his début pop single, Wanna Be Loved in 2011.This song charted him 24 on Canada’s Emerging Artist Billboard Chart. He later released his first unsigned EP titled Crazy, with themes geared toward love and loss. In October 2011, he won the BellMedia Emerging Artist award. In 2012, Wanna be Loved was the 49th most played song on AC Radio, which lead to James winning the Canadian Radio Music Award for best Mainstream AC Artist in 2013.

James’ journey with Streets began two years ago, taking him back and forth between Nashville and Toronto for writing and recording sessions. His lyrics draw on raw emotion making the album a true reflection of his journey and growth as an artist. The album comprises his soulful voice and infectious melodies, blended with candy-coated lyrics that deliver a signature blend of acoustic driven songs that exhume youthful happiness. All songs on the album were written in collaboration with established country music songwriters such as Caeland Garner, James Dean Hicks, Ken Johnson, Amanda Rheaume, and Travis Wood. Streets, appropriately named for James’ door-to-door serenading history, was co-produced by Jason Barry, multi Canadian Country Music Award (CCMA) winner who recently won best country producer in Ontario at CMAO.
