Big news today for Bestival fans in Toronto. The Cure and Tame Impala announced as 2016 Headliners!
The Bestival crew are super-excited to unveil our heavyweight headliners set to sound-track our second transatlantic adventure, when our award-winning global music and arts festival returns to Canada this June 11th & 12th 2016 at Woodbine Park, Toronto.
Bestival curator Rob da Bank says: “We’re back, and Bestival Toronto is up and running for a second year. With a beautiful new site, and so much love emanating from Toronto we needed some big headliners, and The Cure and Tame Impala more than fit the bill; two of the best live acts I’ve ever seen from totally different eras. It’s on. See you in T-Dot!”
The Cure
They are, without doubt, one of the greatest bands of all time, and they’ve got some heavyweight form when it comes to Bestival, so we are extremely pleased to announce that The Cure will be joining us in Canada. Their legendary headline performance for us on the Isle of Wight is engrained in Bestival lore, and with a back catalogue that’s truly second to none, they’re a cast iron guarantee of good times in our new Toronto home. We can’t wait!
Tame Impala
Trailblazers of the psychedelic renaissance, Tame Impala will also be headlining our Toronto show. Led by sonic daredevil Kevin Parker, their most recent album, Currents, has taken their sound in consciousness-expanding new directions, making them one of the most exciting live acts around. Expect nothing less than mind-blowing riff mania and woozy delights.
Helping us bring the spirit of Bestival to a brand new site, we’ve still got a top drawer line-up of incredible acts and sure-fire floor-fillers to announce very soon, as well as a wonderland of fun beyond the music, including the Bollywood Temple, our Costume Party and Parade, the Bestival Inflatable Church, circus troupes, Day of the Dead cocktail bus, marching bands, Sunday Best Balearic Beach Bar and much more.
